Small campsite with fire pit and cook hut
Maggie’s Field is a small non-electric, self-pitch campsite in a secluded rural setting in the village of Staunton-on-Wye. Just a 4 minute drive from the River Wye at Bredwardine and within a 10 mile radius of Hereford, Hay-on-Wye and Kington.
The campsite offers half an acre of space for the exclusive use of one group of adults and kids (up to 10 in total, although one dog is allowed to come along too…)
Prices - enjoy a private campsite
Up to five campers get the entire campsite to themselves for as little as £75 per night mid- week or £100 per night at weekends.
Additional campers, up to a maximum of ten add £15 pppn mid-week or £20 pppn at weekends.
Who Can Stay?
The site is suitable for self-pitch tents and camper vans, but unsuitable for motorhomes. Cars are permitted to load/unload at the pitch with parking just a few metres away.
Please note that although this is an exclusive-use site it is not suitable for noisy parties – no amplified music is allowed. Sorry, no stag or hen parties.
Safe for Kids
The site is self-contained so kids can run about safely. A huge oak tree provides a home for a lovely tree swing to be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. Football, jigsaw, and playing cards are all on hand to entertain while the adults get the tents up!
Cooking & Dining Facilities
A firepit and barbecue are provided on site, along with a little Cook Hut that has a simple 2 ring gas stove and a kitchen table to gather round, should the weather not be to your liking. Alternatively, outdoor dining can be enjoyed around a long trestle table under the shelter of a canopy. Enamel mugs and china plates, kettle and frying pan are also provided.
A small log fire will be set ready for you to light, with additional logs, BBQ coal, firelighters and kindling all available to buy on site.
Toilet & Washing Facilities
The campsite has a charming compost loo with simple wash stand for ablutions. Water is available from a stand pipe on the site.
Supplies
You can buy free-range eggs for breakfast from a nearby farmhouse, and it’s a little further to walk to the nearest farm shop for freshly picked local produce and meat from the local butchery. In a nifty little touch, a bike is provided so you can whizz up there easily enough to pick up supplies.
